First and foremost lets start off by looking at the benefits of exfoliating your legs:
1. Prevents Ingrown Hairs
2. Removes Dead Skin Cells
3. Detoxifies the Skin
4. Provides a Healthy and Youthful Look
5. Enables Moisturisers, and Other Skin Treatments to Soak in Properly
The most popular exfoliator is probably the exfoliating gloves. They are available in most local pharmacies and retail outlets at a very reasonable price. For the best result, It is recommended that you exfoliate with the gloves for 1 minute at the end of every shower. Why not get an ElevEase step to help you get to all those hard to reach areas.
Another suggestion is that you exfoliate after being under a warm shower for a couple of minutes as this makes the skin softer enabling dead skin cells to come off easier. To complete this process rinse off with cool water to avoid any stinging sensations.
Once dry, apply moisturiser to your legs to make them look extra smooth and shiny before you go off and enjoy your day.
Top Tip: Exfoliate your legs before a hair removal session in order to get a smoother finish and to avoid any in-grown hairs.
Want to Go the Natural Route?!
There are tons of DIY recipes on the internet for making your own exfoliating scrub at home, the most simple of which consists of adding kosher salt to your shower gel.
Here are some more of my favourites:
Banana Sugar Body Scrub: When the bananas are starting to brown, grab those beauties and put them to use! Combine 1 banana, 3 table spoons of sugar, and a few drops of essential oil.
Paradise Mango Body Scrub: Celebrate summer with a tropical body scrub! Combine 1/2 cup of raw sugar with a couple of teaspoons of coconut oil (heat in the microwave if it’s solid). Add a 1/4 cup chopped raw mango and 3-4 drops of orange essential oil, and then mash everything together. You can substitute the mango for other tropical fruits such as Papaya or Pineapple.
Coffee Body Scrub: The perfect solution for what to do with the leftover coffee from your daily brew! Combine 1 cup coconut oil, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup coffee grounds, olive oil and mix well. This scrub is especially good for cellulite (coffee) and silky soft skin (coconut oil).
Until next time,
